Hi, currently i am using antenna feedback and ground secondary transformer with 1:150 ratio, which worker fine at close - 20cm range, but i had to use quite long antenna - around 20cm - to get decent signal.
As i am testing feedback with longer distance (50-100cm) signal gets weak. TC starts to self detune and it also changes spark length - for example once it has 1cm sparks for 3 seconds, than 2cm for 5, and it continues to do that, even when i dont do anything near logic driver.
I use 74hc14 with 1n and 1n4148 clamping diodes, and around 47k resistor in series with current transformer.
Some help, how could i make it better, or some site which has some faq/advices about it?
because feedback transformator doesnt kick tesla up, antenna will and when i use transformator it dramatically increase spark lenght
but i feel something is not right in feedback circuit, it needs more tuning.
And i also find out that maybe it is lack of power that is making such a crazy things
i will see, i will be testing it on pc psu with voltage converter, to tweak a things a little until i hook it up on line (and i must be damn sure about it, because, you know, i dont want do blow myself off)
on steve wards page i read somwhere that cascading CT's is better than many turns, i will also try that.
Well, i solved the problem, i was using 47k resistor in series with current sense (CS) secondary, which was weakening signal a lot, i removed it, and now it works fine. As antenna i am using outer coax cable (inner is TC secondary ground for current sense) but it doesnt make any difference if i connect it or not, so i guess CS is now working just fine.
Sorry for double post, just to let some people know if they will come with this kind of problem.
