Yep! That surely is a thermal switch! I have a drawer full of them in my parts bin! When too much current
passes through it the bimetallic strip opens it up. It looks like a neon lamp because it is filled with
an inert gas to prevent the metals from degrading, oxidizing. Handy little device!

Just found one in a battery charger. I opened it up because I killed the bridge rectifier by hooking it up to the battery backwards...
