Inter city busses (the passenger kin) also have freight, from depot to depot, usually taking the same time the bus does between stops. Here is costs $10. to ship a carton between cities. You have to go to the depot to get it. Its greatly used by Auto shops to get parts. I've seen some pretty odd stuff in the mix- rolls of hose etc. Its much cheaper than post and has the advantage that a whole cohort of people can retrieve it, as long as they are the group to whom it was shipped.

The way to find out is to phone the bus freight agent and ask what the rate is between two destinations, ie Calgary and Winnipeg. Bus tickets on those lines are calculated on mileage between stops.
