I have been working on a 555 audio modulation interrupter. As far as I can tell, the NE555 is working fine. It runs at ~60 kHz. The problem is, When testing, I found some nasty ringing. At the moment I have nothing connected to the control pin. (The picture is backwards by the way) any ideas as to what's wrong? I think I might need some de-douplers.

my probe is a small clip, connected to a 2" length of wire, which is then soldered directly to pin 3. It was much longer, but I shortened it wondering if it was the problem. Three wires come out from the board twisted together: Signal, Vcc, and ground. I will try adding some de-couplers now though. EDIT: The decouplers did not help. I did however, discover adding a small value cap on the output to ground gave a smoother wave that stayed positive. The ringing is still present, just as little ripples. The square wave has a curved falling path. Unfortunatley, the enable on my coil is only picking up a very small portion of the off-time.
