A PT is a terrible waste for reverse burden sourcing. You may be able to find a control transformer in scrapped or decommissioned metal-clad switchgear.

Some time back there was a custom Neon Sign shop in a town near where I lived and I had asked for old NST's and eventually made acquaintance w/ the owner. I asked lot of questions of the owner and he said that NST's above 60ma are rather rare. In fact many companies that mfg NST's are now moving to a lower voltage as well as solid state as more are being made for the European market and apparently there is a cap on the design (& cost factors).
As much as many folks don't jump for joy at amazing1.com, they apparently have invested into a transformer affair and put their label on them now. They say they can do some "custom" designs. You MAY be able to find what you need if you approach them via phone and "talk cash". The designs with higher current DO exist (they won't be new obviously) but many are found where actual signs are made locally such as Las Vegas.

This depends a great deal on the manufacturer and the potting. Some NST's are completely potted in a tar-like material that may simply be to difficult to get through. Those that use a high grade epoxy are just too much work to consider. So basically you have a true "unknowns" in that question. Now the OBITs are another story entirely because the likelihood of getting two exact duplicates are high; which would simplify some things. I have heard of some that were 60 ma as well.
I have my own thinking about Pole Pigs. I think that they will eat up enormous amounts of energy from the home, that the alteration of the circuit breakers may be an issue and that, frankly, you are dealing with a very lethal situation aside from everything else. That's a "no second chance" device. Where a man with calloused hands making a single contact (ONE HAND in the pocket) may get thrown across the room with a NST, anything like a pole pig won't give you a fair shake (no pun interned).
