Optics....optics..optics.......Hmmm perhaps a water cooled high power laser, turned oil cooled laser, using the mineral oil, not too sure on the thermal conductivity, but not that I recall, the projectors in the tvs were encased in this stuff so it has some pretty darn good thermal conductivity.
Although...if I recall correctly some guys at work used to work for Phillips and said one of the biggest issues with projection screen Tv's is that algae would actually start to grow on the lenses, I can't remember if they said it grew in the green or blue, just a thought.

Hmm... SSY-1 operated in CW mode under flowing oil? I wish I had the cash to spare. Although I did get a new Fresnel, and from the size of it it could collect 900W midday. Pumped into an SSY1 rod (water cooled) I could make quite a powerful CW YAG laser. With the correct optics (a small cylinder lens to turn the 1.5cm focus into a focal line) I could maybe get 80% of the sunlight into that rod. Assuming a lasing efficiency of even 2% that's a 14W laser. The more I think about this the more I want to do it. Anyone willing to donate a YAG rod? :)
And algae loves the lenses. I had to throw away a whole bunch of them.

I can't remember if they said it grew in the green or blue, just a thought.
Cholorophyll uses red and blue light, so the green lamp shouldn't grow algae....but I bet if you spectrometered the green lamp it would have red and blue components and so can still support plant life.
Snails. Sure, they'd show up on the screen....eh, who am I kidding just convert the TV to an aquarium once it starts growing algae
