Wait 30kV?

I would NOT put NST's in series. It is one of the fastest ways to kill them.

30KV NSTs?

Grenadier -

Who said anything about series-connected NSTs?

Well the largest NST's i know of are 15kV. To get 30kV you need 2 in series.

Sorry, yes you're right, it's only 15kv@30mA, I made it parallel to obtain 60mA@15kv. Was able to achieved at least 15" stream.
Also instead of rf ground just hanging below,, noticed that there's 2nd sec. coil. , I tied it in rf grnd & put on top a clear lamp
to clearly see the plasma. Tuning of sec. coil was done w/ oscilloscope & function gen. .Oscilloscope probe was hanged 3" away fr. coil.
while varying the function gen. to get the max. peak volts.

I also tried the "bowl" top=load you have in the left hand TC & it may be simply the picture but it looks like you're getting some shots at the secondary winding (?) on that one. along with some ring corona on the right hand secondary.
Did you coat the windings significantly? You have some pretty nice output there but repeated shots into those windings may fry them.

I pulled the "bowl" off of mine as I wasn't satisfied that was the best top-load. When used by itself, with a projection (break-out point) affixed to the bowl, are you getting steamers longer than 4cm?

You need a bigger primary capacitor!

Hello quicksilver,
I coated the windings one pass with brush, then dried under the sun. Yes the streamers is more than 4cm. Sparks created bet. 1st sec. coil & 2nd sec. coil is around 14inches.
