Hello, I am trying to get a general idea of how the height, width, and turn count affects the overal output of the coil. In otherwords, how the steamers are affected. I know that frequency is a big factor here.

I would say that this topic is throughly discussed in the past and you could find the results searching the web :)

I have an idea that was useful for me in that area & may help you as well. I "played" with the JAVATC web-page. What I did was put in a simple numeric model of what I COULD build. It was very productive. Let's say that you have such & such awg wire and have access to only common PVC sized secondary forms (3" diameter at the largest) & know that your limit for winding would be 24". You have really no toroid but could make up a 7" if you had to. With just that info you could get a fair example of what turn effect with the wire you had on hand would yield. Of course you just make up a starting point but it gives you an idea as to the effect alterations of a known configuration would bring. The Primary could be a standardized one that you know would be no problem & PSU could be a NST that you have on hand. Those examples would be something you KNOW you could dig up. I would watch the area that I had an interest in (let's say frequency) as I altered a single element (altering more than one was confusing as to end result). That gives a decent starting point for alterations that you may be able to find. From there you extrapolate where you want to go; what you want to achieve. Let's say carpet rolls for a form to get a 4" secondary that would meet all your other requirements, etc, etc.

STOP worrying about this stuff. Just build your coil. Beginners tend to always worry about how these parameters affect performance, but it really makes no sense to dwell on them or even attempt to build the "perfect secondary."
Read my HowTo document below to get an idea of how i build them. I just aim for what materials i have at hand, and what resonance frequency i'm striving for. Thats all there is to it.

If you read into the writings and video tapes of the TCBOR (Tesla Coil Builders of Richmond, Virginia) written and taped by Richard Hull, one of the most successful amateur Tesla builders and experimenters of the day, his biggest advice to any new coiler was always to forget about secondary turns count, height ratios, and just build them.
