Why not try it with, and without, Patrick? It's no great labour to wire up a single op amp after all...

yeah thats true.

UPDATE: the ceramic did break during firing, but this is just the first prototype, also the 6 holes shrunk inward by 0.120" radius or 0.240"diameter. becuase of this itwont align with screw holes on my current base. this was all expected and both the break, and screw holes were related to shrinkage, so now i will redo the math again, then begin the buidling of the final 8 pieces.

Looks good!

Sorry to hear the ceramics cracked. Do you thoroughly wedge the clay before forming to get the clay completely uniform and air bubble free?
I noticed you were using a hot air blower to speed the drying process. Leaving it to dry slowly in a ventilated but draft free location for several days might create less internal stress.

intrawinding you are sharp with the eye, that space heater was used to blow air through my air-tight apratment, when i was at school for many hours of the day, i never used the heat setting, as you imply i was careful to slow the drying out to release stress from shrinkange, also yes itwas throughly wedged and air bubbles/voids were not the cuase of the cracking.

i went back home to the parental units, snagged my NST and variac, im ready for a test soon without the op-amp.

@intrawinding: the cracking was do to slip, roughed area failing,i let it get too firm then put two faces together anad it cleanly broke at that interface. my clay-making place advised me to scratch it up more deeply.

i dont think this counts as a double post as per the rules, i have waited more than 24 hours, and have new information to add. here are the pics.

this is a pick ofthe two HV transormers. they contain a special ferrite transformer, ill strat a thread on those later.

you can see the black automotive gasket sealer around the screws. since the prototype shrunk 0.120 dia. the olive oil tried to leak out. my kindle is for size comaprison.

in this pic you can see the BNC connector at top. also the precision 2.85nF cap the Ballcap is to 2.8pF thuss a 1000:1 ratio.

This is looking quite promising!

Any sign of getting some output waveforms?

i hope so... for the first time since i started doing HV back in 1996, i wont have to geuss about the kV of an iggy or flyback, a CW, or the waveshape between high and low.

ill post some pics and screen caps this weekend. i promised my parents i would get my math class first, since this semester started 4 days ago. so we will have to wait.

The current schematic no op-amp needed, superior bandwidth and better accuracy + precision.

c1 and c2 are the dividers for 1000:1, this siganl is output to R1 and C3.
R1,C3 connected to R2,C4 combine to make a 10:1 divider, thus a 1000:1 X 10:1 = 10,000:1 division total.
C6 compensates for the capacity of the RG-59 (24 inches) @50pF. C6 brings the wave back into phase.
