Just curious if anyone here is collocated near contaminated areas...

So far, this idea seems like the most entertaining answer:

At last, a use for atomic weaponary! It would depend on the substrata, wouldn't it?
This was set off in plastic geological material.
And there's water involved.

Boy i cant wait until gas is 20 bucks a gallon!! BP should shell (no pun intended) out
every dime to fix this accident even it it bankrupts them.

Steven Colbert Joke:

"This oil spill is the biggest british mess to hit America since Amy Winehouse".

I thought it was funny, but that's me.

They are currently committing $20bn over the next 4 years, about a year's profits, to a compensation fund:

It would have been better for everybody if this "spill" didn't happen, but BP seems to be taking the consequences pretty seriously with this commitment. And hopefully the monetary impact, if nothing else, will encourage other companies to take safety seriously. And some better government oversight would also be a big plus.

Youre right about that, it would be better for everyone if it never happened. It truly sucks, and i hope they do continue to take responsibility
for the accident until and after it is fixed. I agree with you 100% that this should be the proverbial "wake up call". I would like nothing better
than for this to be the last "spill". Well said my friend!

I think BP should declare Bankruptcy and tell Obama "Abee Abee Abee .. That's All Folks!"

And then Obama should call up George W. and say "What Do I Doo George.. What do I doo?"

This whole goddam thing is a cartoon fiasco, and we'll be dealing with this for the next 10 years because of incompetence. I'm waiting for the "Yes WE CAN'T" bumper stickers.

@MinorityCarrier: Steven Colbert is a slightly funnier comedian than Glen Beck.

@doctor electrons: Biodiesel reactors can be made for under $250, and the aged stuff I pay $0.62/L for locally actually seems to run with more power on the v8 turbo truck.

@Mattski: If BP can claim this as a tax write-off than the macroeconomic tax revenue will actually be much less for the government.

@Arcstarter: Try to stay out of that 100% Organically grown Benzene =)

Cheers,
Rod
