Here are some pictures of the project i'm working on- it's a 15 foot tall flower type sculpture with 3 drsstcs on top. The coils are built from the minibrute kit, and will be audio modulated. It's going to be set up at different festivals, and participants can play with instruments connected to the sculpture- currently we're going to plug in theremins and a microphone.

5/2011 update:

We've shown it at a few festivals and it's been fun! There have been some challenges - things blowing due to loose connections developing in transit, ground loop issues with the audio modulator and instruments, troubles with stray arcs when we changed from a toroidal topload to a spherical one. But it's pretty dialed in now and everything worked really well for 2 days all day at Maker's faire 2011. We never could see the arcs because it was always day when we were running, but we heard them! We played all kinds of instruments through them that people could come and try- guitars, theremins, violin, some weird instruments we made. I rebuilt the microcontroller audio modulator and version 2.0 was working really well- i'll post pictures of that soon.

Welding on the frame:

The electronics in the frame- there will be a copper cone wrapped around this. The cone will have a gap in the side to prevent it from making a complete circle to avoid inductance issues.
1276488472 2845 FT0 Tesla2

The audio modulator- it's based on a microcontroller and does all three coils in one unit. Been a little worried about the tesla resetting the micro, but it's pretty isolated in the circuit and im hopeful about being able to deal with any issues.

The primaries and a toroid. There's no LED illumination yet, but after the first show i'll have time to do it.

This is another plant in the "family"- this one shoots fire out of the 9 flowers. You can also see the cones that will house the electronics for the tesla sculpture.

Wow that is going to look amazing. Hope you don't have problems with the coils induction heating the metal of the frame. Keep working on it I'd love to see the end result. What will these plants be used for.

The coils go on top- you can kind of see the cones that outline where they will be. We take these to different shows and festivals around- this one is going to Electric Daisy Carnival in LA in a few weeks. Hopefully it works :)
Just wound a secondary today!

I am *almost* speechless. That is incredible metal work... Time to talk to Gated Breakdown about it!

A mixture of metalwork/craftmanship, and electronics. What's not to love?

Let's see that secondary you wound! Also, would you happen to have a website, or youtube videos etc? I am very interested in you guy's work!

Here's a photo of the sculpture at Maker's faire 2011 (I tried to put it in the original post but can't find the attach file dialog when I edit that one):
