I am wondering if there could be 2 additional forums added?

The first would be "Circuit Board Design" and include software, layouts, etching, milling, board houses. All of the stuff associated with pcb design, that always seems to dirty up the threads.

The second would be "Electronic Switches" seems alot of different project need electronic switches. and people have tons of questions on scr's, igbts, spark gaps, relays.

Both of these topics are quite specific and everyone seems to think they go into the forum that the end product will be used on. They also are specific enough that people don’t seem to think they go into general. This was a huge problem on the old 4hv, you can see this by simply looking at a majority of the recent posts before the move. I just hate to see this transfer to the new 4hv.

Switches would be sweet!

I have some different applications I could post, audio and power. Those seem to be popular problems too! :P

I agree. There are entire forums dedicated to audio. It seems only natural that this forum would also have an audio resource.
Cheers,
John

I'm not sure about the other categories but an audio one isn't a bad idea. I for one would be more likely to post on audio topics if there were a board for it, so I reckon an audio category would generate its own threads.

Well I am not sure I fully agree with the audio suggestion and here's why. This is a very specific forum, "high voltage" that is what makes it great, we stay specific and to the point and are experts in this field, and therefore are looked upon by newcomers as an excellent resource.

The audio suggestion is one a lot of us are interested in I am sure, as am I, however as John pointed out there are entire forums just for audio! they are the experts. I am a member or MANY other forums for topics that they are known specifically for. AVRfreaks.com is a good example of this for micro controllers..

I just dislike hopping into read about EM launchers and having to weed through the posts about how to use and SCR, IGBT.

The topics I suggested fit this nitch theme, and only help to organize and keep everything clean. However if it is decided that general is the place for all this then so be it.

I have to agree here; I worry that an audio forum might be stretching ourselves just a little too thin. If there's enough interest, I'd certainly go for it, but I wouldn't be too surprised if it didn't last.

The PCB fabrication forum is a great idea, though. It would certainly be a common interest of many on the forum. Electronic switches I'm not so sure about... I worry that it may blur the line too much. Someone with an OLTC driver design question might not be sure whether the question belong in the TC forum, or the switches forum.

i personally don't think we need to add extra forums at this time. at the time, there aren't that many new threads that warrant a special category.
thats just my opinion though.
