Give me a break, it doesn't take a friggin physicist or rocket science to come up with this conclusion. . . .

Its like saying the most dangerous place to be in front of a moving car is in front of it. jeez!

Yes,
in preparation for the upcoming World Cup
we've had some of our top top scientists on this;
the others are working on a related (TOP SECRET) discipline
I heard from a reliable source that their soon to be released paper
wil prove absolutely that THE key element
in winning a football game is
accurate kicking.
With more and more money poured into science (administration)
we're now sure to be victorious!

I guess he won't make the shortlist for this year's Nobel prizes. :P

I also guess it's a cynical attempt to give this guy and his research group a PR boost on the back of the soccer world cup.

I remember my soccer coach back when i was in 5th grade (around 1984) tell me the same exact advice when taking penalty shots. And trust me, this coach had no degrees in quantum mechanics!!!!

Maybe he both did and didn't have a degree in quantum mechanics smile

Steve has an excellent point. I think we should experiment by kicking several cats.

To be fair, quantum mechanics tells us that just because something is obvious doesn't mean it's true.
So it's a prefectly reasonable experiment to check on the hypothesis that putting the ball where the keeper can't reach it is the best way to get the ball in the goal.
My problem with this research is that it was funded.
Who or, more likely, what committee got together and thought that this was a good way to spend the research budget?
Even the levitated frog seems like a worthwhile passtime compared to this.

Quantum Mechanics occur at tiny distances, and yes, in the Quantum world, things are odd.
But we aren't talking about Quantum Mechanics or Planck length scales, So I fail to see how it is even relevant in this conversation.

Oh, and his book "How to Score", Complete waste of money. Total bloody let down, read the whole thing, went out last night, and didn't pull a single woman.
