my guess would be what common sence will tell me, the wire will reflect the microwaves, and make fireworks out of your secondary, also, a secondary with the resonant frequency (if thats what you meant by tuned) of 2.5GHz would be VERY small, and maybe a few turns at most, so it will probably just do what metal usually does inside a microwave

since what is a typical secondary but some kind of insulating former and wire. (although at 2.5GHz, I dont think a former is even nessary, just a several turns of thick wire on top of eachother.

what if you direct the beam, of you make a bottom fed coil?

803, what?

I do not undestand what you are asking in regards to a bottom fed coil
if I got your question correctly, focusing the beam on the secondary will just have the same effect as blasting the whole thing with microwave radiation, metal is metal, and Id expect no different result then what I said earlier.

also, are you talking about having a bottom fed VTTC that operates (on its own system) in the microwave? or are you talking about using microwaves to drive a secondary coil of a tesla coil?

Just put a length of wire in an MO and it will spew corona. Be careful, when you do this, sometimes the entire cooking cavity will fill up with a huge about of what is, i guess, corona. Like ball lightning with no glass... And many KW's of power.

I say that because i did this once. The wire started to break out on the end. Then, all of a sudden it came off of the resonator and started rising and getting bigger. The whole top of the cavity was full of corona, then BOOM. The RFI suppression circuit board exploded. All of the traces blew up and there where melted wires in the oven. That is why you do not replace the fuse with a piece metal, i guess cheesey

That bring up the interesting question, why did the MOT suddenly supply such incredible current? I guess something to do with the resonating between the magnetron and wire which let it pull more current because physics is not accurate O_O

By the way, this belongs in Tesla coils (or maybe even electromagnetic radiation).

This is not an appropriate chatting thread. Questions about Tesla Coils go in the appropriate forum. Please take it easy on the posting, and review the rules regarding the chatting board and post quality.
