Yes, the lights on the suite have their own power supply. If you look carefully, you'll see the lights are not synchronized with the arcs, but rather blinking at their own programmed rate.

The suit to me looks like EL-Wire. I say this since You can put this on your clothes and it flexes with the material, they have a neon-like appearance to it. That's just my guess as to what it is :D

Having helped him put one of his suits together, yes it is EL Wire using a custom made HV supply that oscillates with variable frequency. Of course, it's all run on the inside of the faraday suit with a battery pack.

I shocked myself on it once while trying to fix it...

it seems in some ways to go with the music. a wireless link would not work in that sort of condition
