Here in Queensland police will be able to perform random saliva tests for cannabis (THC) etc. While I support this I am wondering about their "Zero Tolerance" to the drugs. Doesn't THC remain in the body for several weeks or even months. Does this mean that someone using these drugs will be unable to drive for this long because of traces in their body? No one seems able to give even a rough time frame of when you are allowed to drive after comsuming these drugs. Any ideas/comments?

"All saliva specimens obtained from roadside drug testing will be destroyed once they >>are no longer required<<. " therein lies a whole world of interpretations. Aaah, the joys of flexible law-making smile just to be safe from those naughty naughty terrorists, of course!

according to this, zero tolerance means even zero tolerance when obtaining false positive results. Enjoy explaining statisticial significance to an officer...

Frog you are correct. THC is fat soluble (the brain is mostly all fat) and can be detected in the human body for months after exposure, especially with today's marijuana which has a very high THC content.

Those individuals who had happened to experiment w/ marijuana in a safe environment or even a single exposure will suffer the consequences of those who abuse on a consistent basis, that drug, at times & situations that put others at risk. - But the axe will fall on all and sundry.

Invasive testing has generally lead to hiding consumption. This has not helped those who, with a different approach, may have given up using or sought help.
Taken to extremes, self destructive behavior impacts the community. But to maintain a "zero tolerance" for suicide is as a ridiculous a concept as the same for chemical dependency. Once law enforcement gets out of the way and social-medical models of re-direction take hold, progress may begin.
As it is now, our "War on Drugs" has been a looser since the 1914 Harrison Narcotics Act.
And that's quite a track record.

now that we figured this out .... enjoy this video Link2 Maybe a low-fat diet and lots to drink will do the trick. Levels in body fluids decay relatively fast apart from such surprises that can happen when your body starts consuming the fat reserves.
