Thanks Chris, I might have sounded a bit too dramatic because I fancy the technical solutions to satisfy curiosity. However, as this is an electronics and science forum, a little bit of background won't hurt. The most important thing is to be well-informed and I reckon the internet is still free to use smile

I think your suggestions were reasonable, but really, the only way we're going to be able to help is if she starts at square one. She seems quite stressed and upset, and understandably so. Gathering too much information might not be a great thing right now, as it is awfully easy to come to some incorrect conclusions. Granite countertops, for example, can cause increased activity on a Geiger counter. Nothing to be alarmed about, but probably a bit scary if someone without experience is looking for something harmful.

Seems like the first step is to attempt to analyze the audio. There are a number of things that might be going on that could cause noise pollution, which might explain a great many things. If that doesn't pan out, then one possibility is eliminated, and the investigation can move forward.

UPDATE --99% of your responses were great -THANKS. So Ive moved out into a friends vacant condo and living life normally. Im not hearing noises and have gotten plenty of sleep to know that Im all there mentally. However I brought a friend over to my home recently (and I could hear the sound and feel the feeling like when you walk by an old tv again) and shes explained what her feelings were of the sound.. The burning of the inner ear she got also - but if youve ever been in a car with lots of BASS and theres like this ultrasonic vibration surrounding around your head thats what it feels like... Thats another way of explaining it. However on another note, I am going to try out the fluorescent screens if I can find them.. Any suggetions? Remember Im not the best Tech savvy person, and the fluorescent screen sounds doable. Now the closest room from there home facing mine is a bedroom that has a flouresent light on in the ceiling everynight, so do you think this will interfer with the fluorescent screens ? Thanks for all of your help Your the best :)

I have a 18 x 24 xray film picture??? Or am I wayyyy off? of flourscent screen.. ?? thanks

[Edit: Double post]

The fluorecent screens usually come in a cassette where you place the film. It is possible to expose the film and develop it to see the result, film in the cassette would not be affected by fluorecent lights. It is also possible to vew the screen directly through a magnifying glass. To view it directly you need total darkness and need to spend 20 minutes in the dark for your eyes to adapt. The problem is that hallucinations are fairly common under those conditions so the result is not 100% reliable.

You should concentrate on the sound, if you can hear it and it is a real sound then it should be possible to make a good recording of it.

"and theres like this ultrasonic vibration surrounding around your head thats what it feels like..."

Look at this article: try and get someone to make the thing for you.
It will deal with your ultrasonic perception.
