A plasma whip made in my home shed just like the baddy (Mickey Rourke) made in his.

Can you explain how I did this? Hint: No Palladium was used.

Yes, it is a bunch of optical fibres from a dental UV curing setup which I have stripped of its covering protection and frayed. It is driven by ONE standard blue LED.
So, how come it is so bright?
I did a 3 minute exposure of the fibroptics in complete darkness and then did the flash. (I am holding the camera remote). Hence the fibreoptics are bright and the flash makes verything else look "normal".
You might notice a "wire" next to the fibreoptics. I was experimenting with a blue electroluminescent wire but the result is too smooth and not at all lightning like. It is off in the photo.
Anyone care to make a better one?
