Am somewhat short of money here for various (cough gf /cough) reasons.
Discuss.
How does everyone round here manage to budget for the HV hobby and sort out all the usual essential expenses?

Date wealthy women!
It is just as easy to fall in love with affluent women as it is poor women, you got to have your priorities indeed!
Cheers, Dr. Spark
What terrible advice, Christopher!
I do not know jack about money, really. I guess one thing is get control of said girl . Woman's bodies are our weakness! "Can i buy these shoes i saw, for ten thousand dollars?" "No!" *gives those puppy dog eyes* "Aw hell, go ahead, i guess we could live on negative 9000 dollars for a few months"...
Wait, if you are not married... She has no say in what happens with your money O_O. I am confused with what is *really* happening with all your money...

This is a problem I have to overcome too.... movin out but can't stop the fun hobby stuff!
My girlfriend and I have an interesting plan... I live in a pretty touristy place and my gf does a lot of jewelry making. What we're thinking is that we'll combine our hobbies! I gave her a bunch of blow components and various colorful wire that she'll make into jewelry. Around here it will be really unique and those tourist love unique! She sells a normal pair of earrings for $20 so I bet you can get a lot more with an "art" aspect added in!
The point is, you can turn your electronics into art and sell it. You might end up starting a whole new hobby for yourself!

for my budgeting, I make sure I look around for a part rather than strait up buy one and I also know how to improvise. Ham Fests, Surplus Shops, Flea Markets, etc even government auctions have things for dirt cheap and there are always some in most areas. I know someone who got a pallet of electronics and equipment, including a working frozen yogurt machine, at one of these auctions for $50! Then, there is my favorite method: re-purposing of items. My Pelican Cases, instead of buying separate cases I have different sets of foam and swap them out when I need the case for something else.
There are thousands of ways to drop costs without sacrificing quality, you just have to think it through.
