forced air cooling in a vttc?

Hi i was wondering, if you blow air on one side of a large tube ( 9 in long, 3 in wide) will that create heat stress and crack the tube because of the heat difference on the sides of the tube? ( i am using a hair dryer fan.

I have had no problems with my 811A VTTC being forced air cooled from the side, you can see the construction here:

Actually, the air will stay close to the tube all the way around the tube thanks to Bernoulli's principles.
I've worked on high power transmitters with many 833's tubes and they were all fan cooled.
