Hello everyone, While I always heard that puting a metal bolt inside the secondary of a tesla coil is generally a bad idea, I wanted to secure my secondary with metal bolts on the outside of the coil, with a bottom circle of either wood or MDF, essentially of a larger daimeter then the coil itself, (8 inch secondary, 10 inch circle) and the idea is to take 8 bolts and put them around the perimiter of the bottom circle. I was a bit worried about the bolts heating up due to the primary, but due to the short run time I intend for this coil, I dont think that this will be an issue.
so essentially, can anyone give me any feedback on this design? because I would much prefer to use steel bolts over nylon, due to thier sturdiness. the nylon bolts I have snap like twigs.
on a side note, the bottom "end cap" for the secondary will be a 10 inch circle, I have not decided on its material yet, but will most likely be MDF or wood.
EDIT: nevermind, the problem has been resolved, turns out using this method will work for me. Could a moderator please lock this thread?
