I've just had to email an eBay customer who won one of my auctions to tell him his shipment will be delayed because of a volcanic eruption in Iceland (1000km upwind of here)

It must be true - I couldn't make it up...

This is almost on a par with a friend of mine who arrived late for a lesson with the excuse that his sister had been struck by a meteorite...

I once told my professor i was late to an exam because i was hung over.

He let me reschedule the exam just because i was honest!

I got attacked by a pigeon while in the cop shop
(no it wasn't drugs/etc related, was a routine non-criminal matter) i mean what the heck... ?!
Shame they auto-delete CCTV cos that would have been worth thousands on "You've been Framed" ...
