How do you guys go about searching the archives?
The integrated search only works for the past few months, even google doen't find a lot of it amazed

Example:
in reply 3 of Link2 , heavily is mispelled as heahily. Typing that into the integrated search does not give anything, googling it with site:4hv.org or site:old.4hv.org doesn't find it, even just googling heahily doesn't do it mistrust

So, how are we supposed to search teh archive? It would really be a shame to loose all of that information... cry

[Edit: Fixed broken link]

Google finds the print page but with a broken link. Either use the google cache or fix the link.

http://forum.4hv.org/index.php?board=6;action=printpage;threadid=1151
Change forum to old...
http://old.4hv.org/index.php?board=6;action=printpage;threadid=1151
Change printpage to display...
http://old.4hv.org/index.php?board=6;action=display;threadid=1151
and you are there

Google does not index the new archives for some reason and the archive search function is broken in the sense that it does not like to search for single words or really anything you care to search for.

Now I feel retarded

What did you search for? I have yet to find convince google to give any 4hv pages with 'heahily' in them dead

I am sorry to whoever fixed up the post, I had put it in the sugestion box thinking that we needed to add a new search button and left the link as it was hoping it would show up as text... [me makes mental note to use code tags or something next time]

The old search was definitely clunky - one of the (many) reasons old topics kept coming up. So many posts started with, "I tried searching the archives but..."

It seems a lot better on this forum software.

hmmm

Ok, I figured it out

When I am logged in to google it doesn't find it, but as soon as I logged out it showed up amazed

I wonder what else I have been missing mistrust

Now how would you go about converting the old .4hv archive (ie the older.4hv) to the current ones? The links that are
http://4hv.org/archive/topic.XXX.html
thanks!

I think you need to play around with the board number until you find the correct one. I can't tell without real URL to play with.
