Only real way to kill your marx generator is if your capacitors or ressitors arc over internally

I've got like 300 of these caps:
1297445342 1938 FT86951 Caps
3300pF 4KV 4,000V PETP HV, K73-14 type capacitors come from Russian military surplus. They are Polyethyleneterephthalate foil type, supposed to be used in AC, DC and Ripple current, voltage multiplier circuits. Factory claims the dissipation factor at 1kHZ does not exceed 0.008.

And some very hot, Cesium 137 (0.9uC) spark gaps:
57 36 42

I might be able to "upgrade" my current Marx generator design. The sealed spark gaps would allow me to place the entire device under oil cheesey

Suggestions?

memo to self, advise OP to submit this to the 555 competition as "most extreme use of a 555 outside of specifications" smile

(also you can make spark gaps using a RepRap or so I heard!)

"Both...!" said Pooh, as Lord Voldemort was unhappy with the Valentine's gifts...

A 3d printer kit. Also, where did you get those spark gaps?

Hi that is a nice marx. I made a marx out of those russian caps to let us know how it goes. One thing about the website that your construction details are held on when I tried to access it my norton antivirus lit up like a cristmas tree so buyers be aware when you open it

Grenadier, I got those on ebay.

teravolt, it was probably the ads from Clicksor that I put recently. They are disabled now, please check if Norton sees anything again. If yes, do a screen shot for me and send it over. Thanks!
