I had to carry a respirator on my belt in an area that included a sulfuric acid plant but the cartridges were selected for a variety of substances.These were used only if something happened to get to a Scott Airpack station.
Your H2SO4 involves eyes, not just nose/throat. You needed to be fitted for the nose/throat mask and then you select the filter you want.

Free sulphur trioxide will attack anything organic, including skin. Better to use a fume cupboard or ventillation in much excess I would suggest, although I've never used oleum myself.

Being a beardy, I never trust to a face fitting mask for work in an agressive atmosphere. I use positive ventilation through a 1/2" garden hose (prefrrably new), driven from a cleaned vacuum cleaner, placed a long way away upwind. I've used both a full-face motorcycle helmet with extra taped-on plastic bag epaulettes, and a welding mask with no glass and a roasta-bag (large, strong, transparent) over the top. Obviously an external supply like that can fail, but 30 seconds is plenty to realise that and hold your breath while you get the hell out.
