Okay, this has been bugging me for some time. It doesn't really matter, but I'm curious. Everyone recommends cascaded CTs of 1:33:33 for "1089 which is close enough to 1000."
But 1:32:32 yields a 1:1024 ratio, which is closer to 1000... and better yet, 1:31:32 yields 1:992.
Or so it would seem to me. I know the difference is minute, and that there are many other factors keeping the value we see further from the truth than 10% extra windings, but why do we use 33 and 33 when we can save our hands the stress of 3 whole turns?

I wondered that also, but in the end I don't think it matters too much. +- 10% is probably good enough for most things. I've never had much luck cascading CTs, so I also use just one.
