Sometimes I go to the electronics flea market to sell stuff, other times just to shop & visit. Usually return with a couple of curios from other vendors' Free boxes, for a few minutes of play or show-and-tell at work, before they enter the recycling stream.

Last weekend's free pickings included a couple of body parts from electromechanical toy critters.
(previously collected by another individual on this forum).

There was a motorized mouth / beak unit from, perhaps, a limited-function relative of the Furby. The yellow part cycles up and down, while the lower beak opens and closes. From the same gearbox, a small lever moves at 1/3 the cyclic rate, perhaps to wag a head or tail.

And there was a painted rubber skin for a Tyrannosaur's head, neck, and left arm, on an articulated plastic armature with 4 dangling wires. Turns out it has no motors; the wires just go to green LED eyes.

Today's self-assembling robot technology is insufficient to create hybrid forms by breeding.
But grafting is always an option. smile

So in less time than it takes to present this story, I re-animated the dinosaur's head. The slow-moving secondary function of the Furby-not wiggles the dinosaur's arm (to scratch his fleas).

Here is a video of it in action: Link2

OK, now I can go back to acting my age! Does anyone here want this for the cost of postage?

I think there is a definite market niche for an easy-to-use program
to determine whether or not your neighbour is a dirt bag or not at the click of a mouse.

Online dirt bag analysis software will offer a hundred graded questions to provide service users
with a dirt bag ratings scale and recommendations on how to a abate the nuisance without
clearly breaking the law.

Last weekend I was back at the flea market, with a Seller's space for the first time this season. Ran into the nerdily famous Jeri Ellsworth, the creative lady from whom I'd scrounged the plastic parts last March. Had the re-animated hybrid still intact in one of my junk boxes for show & tell. Now it's honorably mentioned on Jeri's facebook wall & liked on my Flickr video.

Sorry to be here name-dropping. I am so wanting to retire, and play and teach and be goofy all day.
