For E field shielding, a simple faraday cage should suffice. As for M fields, i have no idea! Some sort of permeable material that absorbs/shields magnetism? I do not even know what i am talking about (!!!).
High power density is possible, i am sure. A good bridge with good gate waveforms is key to pumping power into the primary, but secondary heating can be a bitch!
I made a ferrite transformer with a 1.6kw E core, and probably around 500 turns for the secondary. I ran it with a royer type driver. With 12v input, i expected a kv or two. Well, i got more like 40KV or so. I have no idea how the insulation did not fail. I used different frequencies, in the range of 20-50KHz, but the output continued to be extremely high voltage. There is obviously a ton of resonating with the parasitics. So, a ferrite core can output very high voltage, even with a physically small core. I think calculating what it would actually output would be too much of a pain in the ass.
You say you need a square wave. I am confused by this. The output of any transformer will be a sine wave.
