Well, today i was running my 4 inch coil on 2 france 15kV/6mA in parallel. The bottom transformer shot smoke out the insulator. Both the transformers still work fine independently, but they are no longer in (phase?) with each other. I turned them both on, and tested if they would arc to each other, which they did. Do you guys think there is any hope to fixing it? I would be willing to repot it if that would fix it. Thanks, William:-(

Sounds like the insulation partially broke down. You could build a voltage divider and carefully measure the idle voltages. My guess would be that one broke down a few kV, creating a nasty mismatch. Does one of the transfromers seem warmer than the other one after running for a while without load?
ps. no, If I am right, there is little you could do.

i haven't ran them no-load for very much time at all. I will try to measure the idle voltages. I will also contact the place that i bought it, because it will still work for neon. Thanks.

Were they of the same type, model, energy? I agree with hboy007, however, did they function fine for awhile prior? If so; did anything change in the architecture/design, or external environment of the device as a whole?
