Just finished winding the secondary it's approx 518 turns (7 3/16") of 28 gauge wire on a 3.5" dia form. Resonates at around 780khz. Coil is not coated yet, waiting to get some clear gloss poly. Pics wink

First one is the driver board with antenna feedback

Finally got first light amazed most deff not tuned yet because I can only run the coil for 20 secs before the mosfet gets really warm, my tek 2335 will be here shortly soon so I can tune. I also ordered a fluke 83-5. It may be off topic but can I use any temp probe or just ones meant for my fluke? Oh yea here are some pics off my cellular device.

Still tuning i changed the gate Resistance to one ohm, theres still alot of ringing on the gate therefor not saturating the mosfet during duty. Here are some some pics of my waveforms. I believe the high freq ringing when the mosfet shuts off is the terminal blocks i have it hooked up to, tell me what you think cause i'm trying to go for a more modular system.

I just bought a ferrite core for my GDT.  I used 24AWG speaker wire with ten windings , i' m using one non inverting gate drive. Even  with two 12v zeners in anti- series from gate to source it still blew m y irfp460. The failure mode is .5 ohms fro m gate to source and 5.6ohms drain to sour ce. I' m thinking I might of wound it wrong with  too much leakage if someone could give som e insight that' d be awesome. Oh and these are the ferrite s i bought and i' m driving my fets at 700 khz.   cgi.ebay.com/Toroid-Cores-Power-Ferrite-88- 22mm-power-coil-x2-/180362319872? cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item29fe6e 9800
