I used a B/W monitor flyback and a transister. Powered from a 9V in the handle. I used a small lawnmower sparkplug. The BBQ igniter will not work for propane. It works for butane mixtures (hairspray). Thanks, Steve

One trick used by the pyroyechnique crowd is a simple 1/2 watt carbon reistor, pennies now in bags of 100. A 12 volt powertool battery will ignite the < 4,7 ohm types. Try a few values to get you ignition timing tuned.

I bought the HV device from that website and I am going to conect it to a smallish capacitor and to an oscillating relay which should be slow enough that the cap will fully charge. Open circuit voltage is 3KV and operating voltage is 2KVAC 10mA.
Would there be any benefit to increasing the voltage any higher with multipliers?
