A good effort, making a game is a lot more work than most people imagine.
I see you got the same palette problems as I have in Windows 7. This batch file will make it playable if the palette is completely messed up in Windows 7:
taskkill /F /IM explorer.exe
BowsersStory.exe
Start explorer.exe It will also close any open explorer windows and have other side effects. If anyone can come up with a better cure I would like to know.

Alt + Enter, Alt + Enter to toggle in/out of full screen will fix the palette and magenta mask in WinXP.
