Hi all.
I'm sure you've heard about me being scammed by DealE****me.

needless to say my electric bike project is now in the words of John Cleese, "bleedin' demised" frown

does anyone have any ideas? i now have no free time and even less cash (going to have to sell the original lead acids on to make some money back)

i've been told not to risk using lipoly cells as the ones i have are totally unmatched and in bad condition as they are from apple macbook packs, so as of now its dead in the water.

the original plan was to use this thing to get to work and back to save a bit on petrol.

thanks,-A

Double check that you have requested a RMA according to the procedure described on their help page.

Snatch a victory out of the jaws of disaster!

Ride the unpowered cycle for now: save petrol and get really fit!

Use the saved petrol money to finance the project!

If it's a fixed-gear bike you could get REALLY fit, but perhaps not well-proportioned:

Bah, I've been commuting on one of these Link2 for a year.

It's not as cool as the Norwegian thing, but it's got mudguards. And I guess the gear is 7% easier.

i did have a thought. the cells that do work aren't that bad (the internal resistance is high) ..
reckon they would be useable for solar lanterns? LiFePO4 doesnt seem as delicate as Li-Ion so it would make sense.

Life in an outdoor solar lantern is subject to rather harsh temperature extremes. Not much you can do about freezing temperatures in the winter (which oughtn't'a bother Li-based batteries). Under the sun on a hot day they can get quite toasty, esp. with a photovoltaic-cell roof. Good thermal design can minimize the battery temperature rise above ambient.

I once salvaged photovoltaic panels from some primitive solar lanterns whose gel-cell batteries had all dried up. Since the advent of white LED's, the lanterns need much less photovoltaic and battery capacity.
