Ok so I have been working on my DRSSTC for some time now it was compleatly built from the ground up. My question is I think that I could be getting bigger sparks for the power i'm giving the coil currently im putting in (about 1200VA) and i'm hitting a primary current of about 400A peak and 380A average.
Here is a vid of the coil running at 100uS and 80% of my 240VAC mains power: the target is 3 feet from the breakout point. BTW IGBTs didn't even get warm on that run.
May be it's just me but I would expect at least 4.5 if not 5 feet from that amount of power. So is there some way to tweak the DRSSTC to get a foot more spark from the same input power? I have seen people getting 6 feet from the same amount of power and the same type of bridge and IGBTs.
Specs of coil: secondary: 18x4.5 inches 32 gage wire 2250 turns primary: 12 turns 0.25" copper tubeing 9.75 inches wide x 5 inchs high coupling: 0.16k top load: 18x4.5 inch spun toroid Fo:98KHz controller: Steve Ward's DRSSTC controller with primary feedback and OCD power electronics: full bridge of 60N60s IGBTs power: 120V variac -> 240V step-up transformer->DR SSTC

Yes I did I stopped at about 4.5" feet because I want to keep the current to a manageable level. This coil has yet to blow a 30N60s or 60N60 and I would like to keep it that way.
