Hi Guys, Here I present a new project which is a single switch induction heater based on the same circuit which is powering my tesla coil It is driven at 70 KHz using TL494. First tests at low power look promising. The only problem I have at the moment is the resonant cap which is made of some spared caps I had at home and none of them is pulse rated and are becoming seriously hot after few seconds. That limits any attempts for high power.
I plan to order some “real†caps make better inductor and employ PLL feedback soon. Than I try high power - my aim is somewhere around 2500W. I’ll keep you updated.
Here is youtube video – low power test - heater is running at 70V
Any hints and comments are pretty welcomed it is my first induction heater!
Here is an oscilloscope picture of driving pulses and wave forms of the running coil

Hi Guys, The power is rising. Today I bought 30pcs of 100nF. Cheap caps but dipped in water can survive higher power tests. I also ordered pulse rated caps but I have to wait for them.
So here is the latest video - moderate power . The IGBT stay cold - so I suppose that the efficiency is quite good. It is quite a fun to play with the device. Most of my screws, screw drivers and knifes – all are seriously burned.
