I am doing some experimenting with making plasma in evacuated chambers and such. To evacuate them i am now using an air conditioner compressor. It works, but it's ultimate vacuum is... Not that incredible.
I would like to get one of those rotary vane pumps, such as for air conditioner maintenance and such. Some of them have around 75 micron ultimate vacuum, and i have seen one with 10 micron ultimate vacuum. That would be about perfect. I know harbor freight sells them, even though you cannot trust anything from harbor freight.
I am looking for something used, but working. Maybe something sitting out in the shed for awhile. If you have something like that you'd like to sell, PM me with a price.
This A/C compressor will, however, work for now. If you have a vacuum gauge, such as a mercury manometer, i may be interested. I can get them from eBay, but the shipping is what kills it. Something like would be perfect. Anything that reads in inches of mercury from 0 to 30" is good.
