Hello,
I have a problem with my new mini drsstc, always i run it directly from mais, a normal 16A circuit-breaker interrupts it self(dont know how to say this in english lol cheesey ) so i put some 40W ccfl chokes in serio with mains, this works well but i wanna make this drsstc really small, mobile and there is obviously no space for some big and heavy chokes, so my question is: what should i do to makes it work without chokes, lamps or variac?
here is a video of my coil (but it doesnt catch the problem) so just if u wanna see how it looks Link2

Thakns.

Hey,

How large of a capacitor are you running on the DR-SSTC for your energy reserve, anything above 500uf tends to have quite a large in-rush current and is likely to be what is causing your breaker to interrupt.

A simple relay soft-start or even a heavy duty thermistor, is what you need for compact in-rush current limiting, assuming that you are using a large DC filtering cap.

Best Regards,
brtaman

(BTW Happy New Years Everyone, I'm off! :D)
