On January 7th 2010 SparkFun electronics will be giving away up to $100 of free stuff away for each order. The customer only needs to pay shipping. They start at 9am MST here in the US and they will end once they give away $100K, so be sure to start shopping early. Full details here Link2

At least they are offering rain checks! - Also do realize that it is only for the first $100,000 in merchandise, i.e. 1,000 people assuming each one goes to the $100 limit

I might try to fit in an OLED board or maybe some screen keys - something I normally don't get to mess with due to budget

hehe.

FWIW Sparkfun are one of the best suppliers i have dealt with. parts arrived TWO DAYS later (i kid you not) from the US. Zero broken parts, well packed and even sent freebies.

Compare that with "A certain UK supplier that shall remain nameless" taking three weeks just to send a handful of parts in a mangled box that looked like it had lost a war with an angry jaguar.

to give them their dues this was in the middle of a postal strike however.

To be honest, I think the site will go down BEFORE the offer even starts. There will be hundreds of thousands of people already sitting on the order page ready to click "Checkout", unfortunately ...

They said in the release that they have just upgraded their servers and that "Free Day" would let them test it all out. So maybe it won't go down, but your right about everyone camping out; I know that's my plan.

Could just make a very simple script that clicks the checkout button and so forth when the time is right, As long as you dont screw up time zones, seeing that it's easy to make scrips to click and auto-fill forums. Only way I could would be to buy something cheap as a fill-out step guide.
