I would go with the 900V IGBT, it is a bit slower, but requires less gate charge and you can run with a higher bus voltage, if you keep it around or under 200 kHz I would guess they would do fine.

Mads, thanks for the quick reply.. yeah 900V devices coming my way in a few days... I was also *planning* on doubling my input voltage(from 220Vac mains) ... but may be a MORE dangerous coil ?

I've seen people use both of those devices in DRs, and they seemed to work OK.
The IRG4PF50WD is the original hobbyist IGBT discovered by Terry Fritz around 2000. It was the first affordable device that could drive a Tesla coil, and I used it in my mini OLTC years ago. The W stands for "Warp speed" as it was IR's fastest IGBT at the time. (The U in the other part number is "Ultra speed".)
However, both of these devices are from an older generation, and the newer Fairchild and Ixys parts that everyone uses now are faster still.

Thanks for the input Steve,
nice to know about the "warp" device
at least Im glad THEY can be used for DR.. finally...
though I still have a bit of a problem.. for the primary LC, cant get CDE caps(or will surely have a hard time getting one)
all I could get are 630V mylars... though I have tested those caps(with mosfets as switches) ... DR with mosfets... I dont know if the caps can stand the abuse...
