Hi,

after the sucess with my first drsstc i decided to build a bigger and better one with OC Protection and primary feedback. I want to use the circuit of CTC's drsstc 6 which u can find under Link2
But instead of the fullbridge i want to use a halfbridge with one IGBT brick. But i have a few questions i want to ask.

1.) Are there any mistakes in the circuit? Did anyone build this drsstc?

2.) The OC protection, it switches the signal to 0V if the current goes over the prepared value, right? So, can i turn the On time as high as i want without exploding igbt's? And which role does the flipflop play in the OC protection?

This circuit is more or less the same as Steve Wards older DRSSTC driver. This ciruit has seen some improvements since that, so I suggest you check out his newer driver at Link2

I wouldn't touch that circuit with a 10 foot pole, then again that may just be me.
I would try some of Steve's new stuff much improved on. Much better
for driveing larger IGBT bricks. Link2

I don't see why. Martin has made many fine DRSSTCs and has even designed audiomodulation
for them. His work is exemplary.
Do you say this from experience or are you just being inflammatory?

Well, sure Martin/Reaching is a nice guy, and he built some good stuff. But Steve Ward's latest driver is under active development right now. You can see pictures of it making crazy-big sparks on his Flickr page.

If it were an open-source software project, we'd say it was "maintained", and that's a good thing.

I recommend Steve's circuits over my own PLL drivers nowadays, because they're not maintained any more. If everyone builds the same thing, we can help each other out and find the bugs. Steve doesn't post here any more, but I guess you can e-mail him if you find one. :P
