The aforementioned have contributed financially to the continuing triumph of 4hv.org. They are deserving of my most heartfelt thanks.
These are great little things, that can be used with very low level x-ray sources, the sort that is easily in reach of the amateur (like the minifocus tubes also offered in this forum).
I have a full technical description online if you are interested here
A member on here (Proud Mary) already has one of these for her x-ray diffraction experiments!

Can they also be used for regular night vision use? Maybe consider selling outside of ebay (still through paypal) for a discount? (Those ebay fees are terrible!) Matt

I was extremely pleased with the build and quality of the fluoroscope I got from Les, which I have rigged up on an old Vickers microscope stand, with an end-window micro-focus X ray tube aligned with it below the stage. I found 10kVp/15uA sufficient to produce a bright image.
When multiple images are merged into a single composite with Helicon Focus software, images of surprising resolution can be produced.

The fluoroscope really comes into its own where quick X-ray inspection is required, without all the time delay, hassle and cost of dark room chemistry to produce a photographic image.

Hello, How about selling them here, outside of ebay so we dont have to wait so long through the bidding system? We can use paypal, and perhaps save some money since ebay wont be able to take their cut? Im guessing a uranium rock must look pretty neat through one of these things? I have some crazy hot rocks! (80mR/Hr of gamma only!) Matt

Hi, Ok, I will sell them here too, at discount for 4hv members. Since I will save on eBays horrendous fees, we shall say £80 GBP each + postage (£8 to the UK, £19 worldwide, signed for and insured).
Sound reasonable? Send me PM if you want to buy one
Yes it functions as a lovely Spinthariscope, since you don't have to wait for your eyes to become accustomed to the dark!
I think the sample used to take the picture on the webpages was around 10,000CPM combined Beta/Gamma if I recall.

Hello, Well I have been playing around with my fluoroscope for some time now and thought I would post some feedback. These are very neat devices! I have been looking at all my uranium rocks and comparing them. As expected, my extremely hot rocks look amazing!
These are built very well too! They feel very sturdy in the hand.
The minifocus xray tubes are neat as well. The other night, I xrayed a chicken wing and then ate it. The bones were clearly visible before and after eating.
Pens and lighters all show their innards with ease. And I had to see my finger for a split second. I know its bad, but you know I had to try that! And yes, it was quite clear that I have bones in my finger just like everyone else does. No more human exposure.
One thing is for certain, these tubes make me want a larger x ray tube that can standoff more voltage. (Higher voltage resulted in brighter images).
Things I plan to do: I need to figure out a way to protect the plastic light guard on the fluroscope. Also, I need to put the xray tube in something like a lead pig as the lead shield on it seems to provoke flashovers from the HV PS. (I removed it and was able to crank up the voltage a bit higher.) Also, my cdv700 was pegged on the highest setting! YIKES!

I notice that there's a direct line between the input and output screens on these fluoroscopes. Does that mean that you get x-rays in your eye when looking down them?
Or is there enough tube guts and pieces of glass in the way to stop them, or can the x-ray beam be applied at an angle, etc.
