Ok with my semester at shasta college complete, i now have some time for HV again. i made my decision i will use non detergent 30 wieght engine oil (petroleum) because i have a cheap one time source, i choose this oil ove bio-oils becasuse engine oil has a specific heat of ~2.3 while corn oil is about 1.3-1.7 and corn oil was way more expensive per gallon then i thought. like 12-15 $. i can get engine oil for 12.99 for 1.4 gallons. and 17$ for 2 gallons of hydraulic fluid.
in anycase this is a short term test , once i move to my own place i will by 5 gallons of transformer oil @ 55$ for 5 gallons.

Hi, Some time ago I used dow corning 567 silicone insulating fluid for repair 20KV voltage multiplier from an old SEM 515 phillips electronic microscope . it's working fine at the moment
