As many of you know who have so very kindly written in to support me against the overt harassment by one of the other moderators, I have now been 'sacked' as a Moderator by Mr Russell, who rather sadly has followed the tired old 'blame the victim' stategy, because it is easiest - most pragmatic I suppose - path that he can follow.

I shan't pass moral judgment against these weak-minded people, and have no interest in tit-for-tat behaviour.

I have met some wonderful people here - people who have become real world friends - so despite the moral collapse of the administration, I shall go forward with gratitude in my heart for the good that has happened to me here, and quickly forget the bad.

We'll I think most of us support you, but this is a forum that is to be filled with scientific content. It is not a place to bring your personal drama's and mis-fortunate events. If you'd like to spill out what's on your hart you can do that on other forums or in irc off-topic chat. It's just the same rule that applies to other subjects like pseudo science they just don't belong here.

4hv is just a great place where we can all coexist and talk about what we like most, science

Hope we might see you on irc or somewhere else, and that you keep supporting the forum with your knowledge.

Exactly. Science is science, and gender, sexuality, personality, whatever, doesnt even come into it. If some people take offence at such things, clearly a science forum isn't the best place to go about it. If you are 'attacked' for such things, simple soultion: ignore them and move on. I would be confidant in saying they are by far the minority. 99.99% of anyone here isnt going to take offence at anyones gender or sexuality (for those that would, it perplexes me). Infact, I think everyone here thinks youre a great person, Stella, regardless. Thats all that matters. The rest can be science! Lets forget (but learn from, if that makes any sense) what happend and get back to what we are all here for.

This is getting old Stella, there is a whole thread supporting you and then you start another thread where you openly threaten a forum member that used google!!
If this doesn't stop our moderator general may just ban you altogether. Go back and read the thread "Enigma variations".

Stella, I wish you well. Like in real life, almost everybody in this forum is kind and tolerant, if given the opportunity to be kind and tolerant. Your chosen method of outing yourself didn't seem to work for you here, and I don't think bursting out of the closet shouting "boo" whilst still wearing a male mask would get you many friends in real life either.

Take a few months out, then come back and talk electricity if you want to. Even talk personal stuff if you want to, many people do. But like in real life, don't kick over the jigsaw table too often.

It is my opinion, that this whole situation got blown out of proportion.

I can say with certainty that 99% of the forum, being intelligent and open-minded individuals, do not have any ill feelings about you or your life choice, it is after all in-fact your life choice, I fully support you, though must admit the whole situation caught me totally by surprise. I would like to openly state that I condemn any and all members who do not feel this way and had to PM you to tell you about it.

That being said, I believe it was the way in which you "exposed" yourself to the forum that caused all the confusion, I for one was not certain, if you were being serious or not. I believe Bjorn was just curious, for the lack of a better word, and really meant to harm. Like others have recommended, please take a day or two to relax and think the situation over, if you still feel that you do not want to stay on this forum, to which you have contributed so much, it will be your decision, but please think it over with a clear head.

Your expertise, kindness and generosity will surely be missed. I wish you all the best no matter you decision.

Sorry it had to end on such a sour note, Stella. I hope that when some time has passed, you are able to look back on the last several days and realize that despite whatever offenses may have been perpetrated against you, the majority of members here are your friends and supporters. Perhaps someday you'll be able to see that you brought some baggage to the forum that should have been checked at the door, and have lashed out against those who never meant you any harm or ill will. Calling a Google search for your name, the results of which were disclosed only to you in a private message, "overt harassment" is a pretty big stretch. Calling someone a Nazi sympathizer for doing so in an attempt to understand why your posts are no longer coherent is just outlandish.

Most people are rightly baffled by your sudden change, not because of gender identity issues, not due to intolerance, but because your posting style has become largely incoherent and difficult to follow. Worse, any attempts to understand this change or express confusion about it are taken as grave, hate-filled attacks. "The man we knew as Harry is now a woman named Stella" is a change that almost everyone on the forum can happily live with. "The man we knew as Harry is now a frantic radical lesbian with serious paranoia about discrimination and an inability to talk about science anymore unless it can be connected back to lesbian rights issues" is a change that is going to trouble most.

Regardless, the decision to terminate your account is yours. You're welcome to return at any time, and I hope that someday you do.

For clarity's sake, it should be noted that the only change I made to Stella's account was to remove moderator access. The "terminated" notation is her work, not mine.
