Funnky GDT

I recently built a 1:1:1 GDT and I scoped the output to see what the waveform looked like and I am getting some strange results. I'm driving the GDT with 12v and the scope reads 24V! that's average not including a little ripple. So my question is why am I getting 24v from a 1:1:1 GDT should it not be 12v? Also I did load one of the secondaries with a 470 ohm resistor this did not seem to change much. (also tryed 10ohm resistor, the resistor went up in smoke dead )

GDT specs:
1:1:1
24 awg
1 primary
2 secondaries
11 winds
electronic goldmine ferrite core

Driver Specs:
555 driving 2 UCCs in push pull mode running at about 38khz with 3uF DC block cap in series with GDT primary.

That's completly normal.

When you configure the UCCs like you did you formed a full bridge. You should research what a full bridge is, and analyze the circuit to figure out just why it does that.

Isn't the output more likely 24Vp-p or +-12V (with 50% duty cycle)?

I use 15V to supply my UCCs, also using 2 in fullbridge configuration and a 1:1:1 GDT, and I get +-15V on the gates.

You are correct on this, I just was reading my scope wronge. It is producing 24Vpp or +-12v.
