Oh no, sorry this thread should go to the ** Add your Tesla coil here ** topic , can someone fix this? thanks. - obsolete

Modified Steve's mini sstc design
scheme: Link2
secondary:23x11cm
half-bridge: HGTG30N60B3D's or IRFP460's for lower preformace
sparks length: about 50cm
this coil is interrupted drsstc with half-wave rectifier
max streamers lenght is archived on interrupter ON and OFF time limits(almost like a CW)
in this mode maximum power in is 2300W
I recommand to watch this video Link2
..enjoy shades

Very good work! I saw your video on youtube, and I was very impressed. How is the performance with IRFP460?

Hi, Thanks
With 460's preformace is litlle bit smaller but more safer and stable, power input is max 1400W and streamers are about 45cm long, but 460 get more hotter than igbts on bigger power..:)
also i have a video with these 460's on youtube called 'drsstc brutal' ;)

Nice coil!! Very nice!
You can only have 2-3 photos for the "Add your Tesla coil" thread, so you might want to do it again rather than having this one moved.

hey mmt,

I really thought you had a different modulator because the "Bangs" wont snycro with the 555 "ticks"... so that is HOW it should sound with a DR.. nice!!

pretty much different from an SSTC w/c the "bangs" are the same with the 555 "ticks"...

btw, Im making my SSTC into a DR, but 1st im rebuilding the driver board.. I have the osc/driver up and running (Im using the minibrute schema).. but Im using a single 555 for the modulator (for now) since its still an SSTC cheesey im using a "remote" interruptor and coupled to the interruptor input with opto-coupler...

will post post new pics of it once Im done rebuilding the half-bridge IRFP450 (for SSTC)

DR will happen when I get IRFP460 (lack of money for now)

sorry for the hijack tongue

Those bangs may sounds differrent and irregular because I have there a half-wave rectified bridge, so i get spark only when meets 50Hz from mains and pulses from 555 interruper. I concludes this combination however makes irregular freqence of sparks but decreases the input power and temperature on heatsinks. But mostly how sparks sounds affect on the interrupter and toroid. wink

That's very nice. I have a few questions, what frequency does it run at, and how do you adjust the primary tuning? Also, I see it uses antenna feedback, that is pretty unusual and interesting.

It runs at 188kHz, i didnt make any special primary tunning, just some bacis calculations for CAP witch currently have 62nF. Yeah it has a antena feedback i tried CT, VCO, PLL, TTL but this antena shows best.
