Bank winding in HVHF transformers?

The recent discussion of segmented winding vs. highly insulated solenoidal layers,
and consequent issue of self-capacitance, reminded me of a winding style whose name
I had forgotten. Recovered it after about an hour of searching: Bank Winding. Has that been discussed here?

At the cost of being hard to make, it seems to give the benefits of a segmented winding without a segmented bobbin. Developed to reduce the capacitance of a multilayer coil, it (not coincidentally) reduces the turn-to-turn voltage. If you aren't familiar with the term, see

The authors of the second reference do say "probably impractical in SMPS magnetics".
But given the patience of Tesla-coil winders, and the availability of 20 volts per turn with giant ferrite cores, maybe it's not a preposterous idea. On the Internet I found reports of DIY coil winders with CNC traverse mechanisms.

Whooo Hooo!

Im building a segmented transformer this weekend (like Baleworker's) , My NC machine is ready for G-code, and my endmills are calling me!

Useful information but the slup125.pdf link to TI doesnt work for me at least.

I have used nylon rod with nylon washers as a way of winding segmented RF chokes. It's just a question of choosing washers with the same ID as the OD of the rod.

Glass test tubes also make good formers for HF chokes.

I imagine these technique could be translated for xformer use.
