Well I just wanted to give an update to the project I am working on. It is not high voltage related, which is why you have not heard much from me on the board here, and don’t worry the new railgun is still in the works. However I had a deadline to get this thing mostly completed ( minus a few features here and there ) by today, because of a photo shoot for Popular Science Magazine. I have put up a few pictures and videos at my web site.
Many of the features below are in various stages of completion. Motor speed control. Depth Pressure Water temp Internal temp Battery voltage Ping sound Lights IR light Digital Video and still frame capture. Sound capture (hydrophone) Laser pointer Compass Artificial horizon (horizontal and vertical tilt) Water Leak detection Ballast Lift bags Manipulator arm(grabber hand) Joystick control Air lift bags Mini torpedoes
Other considerations Mostly off the shelf parts. Under 300 dollar total cost.(without laptop) Easily portable. Able to be run from batteries. Able to withstand depths of 250+ feet
after Popular Science is done taking pictures I will do some more upgrades making new circuit boards, and upgrading the program in the Atmel AVR microcontroller.

I just got an email from Popular Science Magazine saying it's going in the August issue, which they are just putting together now. So it'll be out the second week or so of July.
I put an updated picture of the program for the laptop that controls it, as well as a schematic.
