Harry mentioned he was working on a new spark gap design.
The following may be of interest.
Here's a data sheet on a commercial unit made by Titan Pulse Sciences: 
A few years ago, I inquired about the price of this thing. I was expecting something in the range of $500.00 to $600.00 or so. I was surprised to find they actually wanted $1350.00 for it...and (as per my inquiry) it doesn't even have W/Cu alloy electrodes...the whole thing is just plastic (polycarbonate) and brass.
Also, here's a paper that makes a case for using graphite electrodes:
