Hi All,

First post here. I've come down to help James (Audio:Deviant) with his coil construction. Although my knowledge of electronics is slightly stronger than James' I've come into a struggle with conflicting information.

James has used the machanical design from a DRSSTCII, including the Primary (MMC) Capacitor bank, with the low voltage electronics from the mini brute extensively discussed in the sticky.

Somewhere along the line, James was advised not to bother with a full bridge as the DRSSTCII design specifies and that the half bridge configuration is sufficient. below is how he currently has it connected up.

This rings allarm bells with me and would like the experts opinion smile In particular, whether the return from the primary should be connected to the DC-.

Many thanks in advance.

Doug

Apologies if this should be in the mini brute sticky, I thought that as this coil is a bit of a hybrid that it might take the sticky off topic. Feel free to merge, Thanks.

Yes, it's quite normal to connect the primary return to the DC bus negative like that. (Where else could you connect it?)

BTW, the forum has a 400 pixel width limit
