When the electronics are directly under the primary/secondary (a few cm below), is there any risk of induced HF voltages on the driver circuits, which could upset the operation of the SSTC?

My SSTCs get unstable at voltages above 100VAC in if the drivers are not shielded, I just use some thin metal sheet I salvaged from a old monitor, bend into a case and grounded.

You can always look at the holes in the casing and calculate which wavelengths it will shield for, more layers with different grid sizes would be perfect, but for a SSTC it will do fine, I have my drivers box about 10 cm beneath the secondary/primary.

a PSU should work good and if you are unshure about about EMI than you could put a metal mesh like for screan doors in front of the fan and aluminuim or copper tape for holes. but a PSU case might offer enough shielding with out all of that.
